my journey from personal trainer to rolfing
Let’s take it back, way back. I grew up an athlete playing 5 or more sports a year as a kid. From swimming, soccer, basketball, track, skiing, and ultimately picking volleyball as my number one sport.
Thousands of hits, jumps, dives and serves later my body was fine…until the day a jacket sent me banana peel flying and landing on my low back. For years after that I endured back pain. I saw everything from chiro, pt and acupuncture. All modalities I love and still use for my own self care. However I never really saw something stick until I did a 10 series.
Now Fast forward
I have graduated college with my Bachelors in Kinesiology. I chose to work in a box gym to start my career in the fitness industry. I knew that wouldn’t be my forever job but I wanted to gain experience and I am grateful for all that I learned. Ultimately I knew I wanted to go back to school for something more.
The longer I worked in the gym the more people I got to work with, and that came with more challenging clients. I started to see a lot more people moving in pain or on their way to joint replacements, and I found myself referring out to my Rolfer constantly.
It clicked for me. I felt so strongly that this body work technique works and really changes peoples bodies. So in 2020 I applied and two weeks later I was starting class at the New School Of Structural Integration in Laguna Beach. Now I get to do both. Helping people reach their physical fitness goals alongside helping people who are living in pain, restriction, and want to feel good again. I have the pleasure of working with so many people and aligning them with gravity and their goals.
